PRIVACY POLICY
Le Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. has always attached great importance to protecting the information under its responsibility. The Act to modernize the legislative provisions governing the protection of personal information standardizes this approach by defining the rules and procedures for the acquisition, retention and use of personal data by private and public organizations.
The following policy sets out the principles of Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. (and its subsidiaries) with respect to the protection of personal information.
Definition and scope of application
The policy applies to all Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. employees. working on the territory of the province of Quebec and/or responsible for collecting or having access to data concerning persons residing on this territory.
All personal information under the responsibility of Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. is considered confidential, with the exception of information of a public nature as defined by law.
Personal information is that which relates to a natural person and enables that person to be identified other than in a professional context, such as name, position, business address and telephone number, and business e-mail address. With certain exceptions, they may not be communicated without the consent of the person concerned.
Exceptions include the following cases:
when their use is compatible with the purposes for which they were collected and serves the person concerned;
when their use is necessary to prevent or detect fraud, or to evaluate and improve protection and security measures;
when their use is necessary for the supply of a product or the provision of a requested service.
DATA COLLECTION AND USE
Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. does not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required or permitted by law.
The data collected by Expertbâtiment inc. have multiple sources (electronic application forms, telephone calls, site surveys, building photos, payment data, etc.). The primary purpose of this information is to deliver the service for which we have been commissioned.
In accordance with the Act to modernize the legislative provisions governing the protection of personal information, information is kept for a reasonable period of time, at least long enough to meet the purposes for which it was collected.
Also, by virtue of accreditation rules, government compliance or professional responsibilities, certain information may be kept longer. In addition, in order to ensure the quality and improvement of our products and services, de-identified data may be stored for statistical purposes.
Le Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. makes every effort to maximize the security of your data by securing our servers and information transfer methods, training our staff and implementing our information management procedures.
DECLARATION OF CONSENT AND ACCESSIBILITY
Subject to applicable laws and regulations, you may request access to your personal information at any time for purposes of consultation or modification (if compatible with the purposes for which the information is intended).
If confidential information is to be shared outside Quebec, it will be subject to a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) as recommended by the Commission sur l’accès à l’information du Québec.
Any partners or subcontractors of Expertbâtiment are also subject to the Loi modernisant les dispositions législatives en matière de protection des renseignements personnels. We do not share your personal information with companies, organizations or individuals outside Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. with the exception of our authorized suppliers and partners who require access to the information for the purposes listed in this policy and within the limits of this policy. Please note that some data may be physically stored on secure cloud servers outside the country. Access to this data is monitored and limited to authorized Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. personnel.
For regulatory purposes, to deliver the requested service or to participate in government programs, certain information may be transmitted to various government or private stakeholders.
In general, customers requesting service from Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. by transmitting confidential data will be deemed to have given its consent to the use of data for the purposes of providing the requested service. Data will be stored and subsequently destroyed in accordance with the internal procedures of the privacy policy. If, for any reason, the retention period or purpose of use should change, consent will no longer be considered valid.
Please note that you may withdraw your consent at any time. However, this withdrawal could have an effect on our ability to deliver the requested service.

COMPLIANCE AND INQUIRIES
The role of the Privacy Officer is to ensure compliance with and implementation of the Private Sector Act. It must also ensure that the Policy is applied and periodically reviewed.
