Privacy policy
Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. has always placed great importance on protecting the information for which it is responsible.
The Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information provides a framework for this approach by defining the rules and procedures governing the collection, retention, use and disclosure of personal information by private and public organizations.
This policy sets out the personal information protection principles of Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. and its subsidiaries.
1. Definitions and scope
This policy applies to all employees of Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. working in the province of Quebec or responsible for collecting personal information about individuals residing in Quebec, and to anyone with access to that information.
All personal information under the responsibility of Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. is considered confidential, except for information that is public under the law.

2. Collection and use of personal information
Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. does not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual concerned or where the law requires or permits it.
The information collected by Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. may come from several sources, including:
- request forms submitted electronically;
- emails and telephone calls;
- requests for information, quotes or services;
- field surveys;
- photographs taken during an assignment;
- billing or payment information;
- training registrations;
- communications with our clients;
- technical information generated when our websites are used.
This information is collected primarily to provide the product or service for which we have been retained or contacted.

3. Retention and security
In accordance with applicable personal information protection laws, information is retained for a reasonable period to achieve the purposes for which it was collected.
Accreditation rules, government requirements and professional, contractual or legal obligations may require some information to be retained for longer.
Depersonalized data may also be retained for statistical purposes to maintain and improve the quality of our products and services.
Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. takes the necessary steps to protect the personal information for which it is responsible, including:
- securing its servers and systems;
- protecting its methods of transferring information;
- limiting access to information;
- training its personnel;
- implementing internal information management procedures;
- using security measures appropriate to the nature of the information held.
Access to personal information is limited to authorized personnel and collaborators who need it to perform their duties.
4. Disclosure to third parties
Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. does not disclose your personal information to outside businesses, organizations or individuals, except in the situations provided for in this policy or authorized by law.
Information may be accessible to authorized suppliers, partners or subcontractors who need it to provide a service to Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. or its clients.

Some information may be stored or processed through cloud services whose servers are located outside Quebec or Canada.
When the disclosure or storage of personal information outside Quebec is contemplated, it is assessed in accordance with applicable requirements, including through a privacy impact assessment where required.
5. Consent
In general, a person who requests a service from a business within Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. and provides the information necessary for that request consents to its use to deliver the requested service.
The information is then retained and destroyed in accordance with applicable internal procedures.
If the purposes for which information is used change significantly, or if a new use requires consent, new consent may be requested.
Anyone may withdraw their consent to the use or disclosure of their personal information, subject to applicable legal or contractual restrictions.
Withdrawing consent may, however, limit our ability to provide certain products or services.
6. Access, correction and other rights
Subject to applicable laws, you may request:
- access to the personal information we hold about you;
- the correction of inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information;
- the withdrawal of your consent where it is the basis for the use or disclosure;
- information about the use and disclosure of your personal information;
- any other right recognized by applicable laws.
A request may be refused or limited in certain situations provided for by law.
To protect the confidentiality of the information, we may verify the identity of the person making the request.
7. Cookies and web services
The websites of Groupe Expertbâtiment inc., including the Lab'Eau-Air-Sol website, may use cookies, web beacons, tracking pixels, log files or similar technologies.

9. Confidentiality incidents
If an incident affects personal information, Groupe Expertbâtiment inc. takes the reasonable measures necessary to reduce the risk of harm and prevent a similar incident from recurring.
Where circumstances require it, the individuals concerned and the competent authorities are notified in accordance with applicable laws.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be amended to reflect changes to our practices, services, technologies or applicable legal requirements.
The updated version takes effect when published on the website, unless another date is indicated.
11. Person in charge of the protection of personal information
The person in charge of the protection of personal information oversees compliance with applicable laws, the implementation of this policy and its periodic review.
